January 25, 2017:What’s Ahead for the Global Economy in 2017

What’s Ahead for the Global Economy in 2017?

Will consumers’ net worth set new records?  Are lower gasoline prices here to stay?  Will rising interest rates slow the strong housing market?   And – most important of all – what will 2017 mean for the economies of Asheville and North Carolina?

These and other questions will be answered at LAF’s January 25th Critical Issues luncheon by internationally-recognized economist Dr. James F. Smith of Parsec Financial Management.

Dr. James F. Smith has had a distinguished career as an economist in business, government, academic and trade associations. His economic forecasts are regularly quoted by The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News and other media. Dr. Smith is Chief Economist for Parsec Financial Management, Inc, in Asheville, NC. He also is Professor of Finance at the University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill and Director of Business Research at the University of Texas/Austin. He is past president and an active member of several economics groups, including the National Association of Business Economics, and a past co-chair of the European Council of Economists.
